Abstract


The auther had sampled saliva and analyzed in order to investigate caries risk of korean 12, 15, 19 year-old adolescents. By use of DentocultR SM strip(orion Diagnostica, Espoo, Finland), Streptococcus mutans was selectively cultured. Then the
correlation was analyzed between DMFS and caries risk factors of Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacilli.
@ES The obtained results were as follows:
@EN 1. The carious risk level in Streptococcus mutans with 106 CFU/ml of saliva was revealed 66.67% of 12 years, 33.33% of 15 years and 23.91% of 19 years old group.
2. The carious risk level in Lactobacilli with 105 CFU/ml of saliva was revealed 23.01% of 12 years, 23.93% of 15 years and 30.44% of 19 years old group.
3. The correlation coefficient between DMFS and Streptococcus mutans was statically very significant (r=0.25, P<0.01) in 12 years, r=0.26, P<0.01) in 15 years, r=0.31, p<0.01 in 19 years).
4. The correlation coefficient between DMFS and Lactobacilli was statically very significant (r=0.48, p<0.01) in 12 years, r=0.62, p<0.01 in 15 years, r=0.43, P<0.01 in 19 years).
